Collectors Club Meeting January

This was the first Collectors Meeting for the 2026 Calendar Year and was well attended by several visitors along with some regular attendees.

The main theme of this meeting was Swiss service rifles. We were fortunate enough to have several variations on display with designs spanning from 1869-1958, including:

• Vetterli 69/71Carbine
• Vetterli 1878 Rifle
• K93 Cavalry Carbine
• Model 1889 Rifle
• Model 1911 Rifle
• Model 1911 Carbine
• K31 Carbine

Discussion was had not only on the technological progression and design of each rifle model but also on several of the supporting items, which included several bayonet types for each rifle, several different types of charger clip that were used in Swiss service, an M1918 helmet with later Taz57 (Alpenflage) cover, an original 7.5mm ammunition carton and packets, as well as two published books on Swiss military firearms.

It was also noted that the bayonet for the K31 had numbers matching to the rifle, which is unfortunately not common to see today.
