Meet the Team: Darren
19th September 2025
Darren first discovered benchrest shooting after watching Tony Allinson shoot tiny groups at their local club. Tony handed Darren his rifle to try and from that very moment he was hooked.
His proudest achievement so far has been earning his place in the Hall of Fame, a milestone that represents years of dedication to the sport.
Unlike some shooters, Darren does not have any pre-match rituals or superstitions. For him the biggest challenge is balancing work with his shooting, as the demands of the job often get in the way of valuable practice time.
Outside of the range Darren has always had an interest in archery and says that would likely be his focus if he was not shooting benchrest. His advice to anyone trying benchrest for the first time is simple: have fun and enjoy it.
For Darren, the ultimate honour is representing Australia. In his words, “I think it’s the pinnacle of any sport to represent your country.”
Cheers to Darren, a shooter whose passion and commitment continue to inspire.
