Range Officers play a crucial role in all SSAA shooting ranges. Their main duty is to ensure that safety protocols and Range rules are being followed, an essential responsibility to guarantee the highest level of safety. SSAA mandates that all Ranges have a certified Range Officer present at all times while the Range is in operation.
SSAA Newcastle invites SSAA members to become a Range Officer to support other shooters and maintain the high safety standards expected by regulatory bodies.
SSAA Range Officer training program ensures that new Range Officers are adequately trained and that they fully comprehend their responsibilities.

Essential criteria
> Shooters licence
Cat A & B with a genuine reason of Target & Rec-Hunting.
> Adult Finacial member of SSAA Newcastle Branch.
> Apply to the SSAA Newcastle Branch Inc Committee.
Apply for the position of Range Officer in writing to the committee of the SSAA Newcastle Branch Inc. This does not include an email, it must be a written submission.
> Complete Theory training and assessment.
Undertake 3 off half days (minimum) Practical training on the Firing line and the Range office under supervision and be signed off by three different accredited Range Officers.
